I have been working on multiple projects to demonstrate design principles across different products. These are all in different stages of production.

These projects are:

  • Factsheets and brochure for ‘The Wallace Academy’ dance studio
  • Website for Kitchen Evolution
  • Newsletter template for Internal Government Department team
  • Independent Business Card design
  • Personal branding

When working on these various projects, I adopt an informal SCRUM process which covers

  • Preparation
  • Process – planning, sprint reviews,
  • Release

Preparation

I approached several contacts who I knew needed some assistance with product development, and discussed what I could offer them. I had an initial meeting with these contacts to discuss the purpose of the product they sought, and who the audience would be. This allowed me to commence some initial planning, to ensure I could deliver a suitable product.

Project Purpose Audience
Factsheets and brochure for dance studio Information: To supply information on important studio requirements include hair, makeup, costuming and eisteddfods Internal: Parents and students of all ages
Website for Kitchen Evolution Advertising: Functional website for local kitchen company that has photos, and other relevant information. External: Potential customers
Newsletter for team Information: standardised template to incorporate required topics for the team, including business and team building aspects (photos, team member of the week etc.) Internal: team only
Business Card Design Promotion: to be used for networking, contains personal contact information External – potential employers
Personal Branding Promotion and advertising: to create a recognisable brand for myself, incorporating an icon, badge, banner, logo, business cards etc. External – potential clients

Process

All of my proposed projects are in the Design stage. I have received agreement from all clients to continue with design and product development and have shown some preliminary design ideas to the clients. There are no firm timeframes attached to these products.

In regards to the internal newsletter for a government department’s team, I have been given a copy of the government style guide to ensure my design meets expectations. This style guide is not for external release and I am unable to supply a link. I have referred to http://scrumreferencecard.com/scrum-reference-card/ for the SCRUM management framework – an alternative to the Waterfall approach.

Sources I have used for these products are:

  • Existing company website and social media accounts
  • Existing company logos and icons
  • Internal style guides
  • Personally developed templates
  • Adobe Photoshop product
  • Adobe creative cloud system
  • SCRUM
